THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM Respiratory System is the set of organs that allows a person to breathe and exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide throughout the body        Respiratory System's main function is for gas exchange between oxygen and carbon dioxide which a process is called respiration. The main organ is the ''Lungs'' The Pathway Air enters the nostrils Through pharynx Into the trachea Into the right and left bronchi, which branches and re-branches Into bronchioles, each of which terminates in a cluster of air sacs ( alveolus) where the oxygen (O2)exchange with carbon dioxide(CO2) Breathing is the process of getting oxygen into the lungs and carbon dioxide out of the lungs. It allows for gas exchange to take place so that oxygen can be absorbed from the lungs into the blood and carbon dioxide is removed from the blood and breathed out from the lungs. Respiration is the release of energy from the break down of glucose in living cells. Respiration takes place in every living cell and all cells need to respire to produce the energy they need. Common Illnesses Related To Our Respiratory System  1. Asthma caused by an allergy, wheezing, breathlessness      or gasping for air may occur  during the asthma attack.  2. Bronchitis  caused  when the common cold becomes       serious because the air pollutant 3. A Cough  4. Emphysema is the enlargement of the air sacs       usually cause by smoking  5. Lung Cancer  forms when cells in the lungs grow       and multiply without control cause by smoking, exposure       to toxic n. air pollutant or family history of lung cancer  6. Tuberculosis is infectious  and inflammatory lung       diseases. It spreads through the air when infected        persons cough or sneeze Keeping Our Respiratory System Healthy 1. Keeping our body healthy by eating right, drinking      enough water, having enough rest, maintain a proper      hygiene  and exercise regularly 2. Avoiding polluted places, if we have to work in dusty or       dirty  place we should wear a mask 3. Say " No!" to smoking
